LECTURE SERIES: Digital Interventions, School Phone Bans and Adolescent Outcomes

Across the world, families, schools, and governments are increasingly regulating adolescents’ digital and social media use, often without robust empirical evidence to support new rules. This talk brings together evidence from three studies investigating the effects of these measures. The first looks at the effects of school smartphone bans on social media use and well-being across 66 countries. The second presents a systematic review and meta-analysis of digital detox interventions. The third assesses the effects of reducing social media use on adolescents’ digital behaviours, well-being, and educational outcomes in secondary schools in Spain.
