Zachary Van Winkle

Zachary Van Winkle is an associate professor of sociology at Sciences Po’s Centre for Research on Social Inequalities (CRIS) and an associate member of Nuffield College at the University of Oxford. He is currently the PI of the WIDOW ERC starting grant on the social demography of widowhood across ageing societies, which began in September 2024. His research focuses on the interplay between family demography and social inequality from a comparative life course perspective, and has been published in the American Journal of Sociology, Demography, Social Forces, Population and Development Review, amongst other outlets. In addition, he is currently an associate editor of Advances in Life Course Research and the Journal of Family Research.
