Mapineq Event builds on strong networking partnerships

On October 7, 2024, the ECPD was present at the WZB Berlin for the launch of the Mapineq Geospatial Interactive Database and Dashboard, a collaborative European project led by our Principal Investigator, Melinda Mills.

This innovative online mapping tool integrates data on socioeconomic, environmental, infrastructure, and health indicators from various public sources. Its goal is to visualise local-level inequalities and provide policymakers with detailed insights to foster more equal living conditions, all in a user-friendly interface.

The event was hosted by Jani Erola (University of Turku) and Melinda Mills, both co-PIs of the Mapineq project. A panel discussion featured prominent figures such as Douglas Leasure (University of Oxford), Bastian Alm (Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action), Nicola Brandt (OECD Berlin Center), and Paul Gellert, the ECPD Co-Director. The panellists explored the tool’s policy and research applications, offering valuable feedback on its potential.

The presentation was recorded and is available on YouTube:

We are excited by the prospects of this powerful tool, which represents a significant step forward in policy development, helping governments and organisations better address local-level inequalities.
