SUMMARY:LECTURE SERIES: Intimate partner violence: Data challenges and policy solutions
DESCRIPTION:Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a widespread issue with serious and far-reaching consequences for individuals and societies. Beyond physical violence\, IPV involves patterns of psychological violence and coercive control that obstruct victims’ wellbeing\, safety\, and autonomy. Yet\, much of this violence remains hidden and insufficiently understood\, since we lack reliable data that sheds light on the scope of IPV as well as its drivers and effects. \nThis joint event of the Hertie School\, the German Youth Institute\, and the Einstein Center for Population Diversity brings together experts from academia\, government\, and public institutions to explore how IPV can be measured and data gaps can be addressed across different contexts\, aiming to identify pathways toward more robust prevention\, protection\, and support strategies that reflect the full spectrum of IPV. \n\nProgram: \n18:00-18:15     Welcome\n18:15-18:30     Keynote by Dr. Christoph Liel\, German Youth Institute\n18:15-18:45     Keynote by Prof. Dr. Janina Steinert\, Technical University Munich\n18:45-19:30    Podium discussion moderated by Prof. Dr. Michaela Kreyenfeld\, Hertie School: \n\nPD Dr. Christina Boll\, German Youth Institute\nDr. Christoph Liel\, German Youth Institute\nDr. Miriam Schroer-Hippel\, Department of the National Rapporteur Mechanism on gender-based violence at the German Institute for Human Rights\nProf. Dr. Janina Steinert\, Technical University Munich\nDepartment for Gender Equality (tba)\, Federal Ministry for Education\, Family Affairs\, Senior Citizens\, Women and Youth\n\n19:30-20:00    Q & A\n20:00-20:15    Wrap-Up by Lena Wagner\, Humboldt Universität and Stefania Molina\, Hertie School\n20:15-21:00    Get together \n\nThe event requires prior registration.
